2012 WACSSO Annual Conference

The 2012 WACSSO Conference held at the Burswood Entertainment Complex over the 18th and 19th of August was a huge succes!

The conference was yet again proven to be exciting, informational and well planned. Delegates have lauded the presentations made by Greg Mitchell, Lyn Worsley, Yvonne Henderson, Holly-Ann Martin, Robin Bromley, Gregg Moxham and keynote speaker Professor Carmen Lawrence. The Minister for Education Mr. Peter Collier, Shadow Minister for Education Mr. Paul Papalia and Director General of Education Sharyn O’Neill were also received very well, with delegates appreciating the opportunity to ask impromptu questions from all three.

The Saturday evening Networking Sundowner was once again a big hit, with attendees coming together to network and listen to the Mount Lawley Senior High School Band, which was thoroughly entertaining. Other students performances from Westminster Junior Primary School Recorder Group, Morley Senior High School Guitar Ensemble and Flinders Park Primary School Green Island Choir were also highly valued and received high praise from attendees.

The conference session “Voices of the Future; Student stories, experiences and perceptions,” which brought together 3 exceptional students to tell their story, received the most positive feedback. Attendees were highly impressed with presentations from Jared Clapin from Perth Modern, Alexandra Nguyen from Mount Lawley Senior High School and Aiden Brown from Guilford Primary School. Each had an amazing story to tell and were very well accepted by all.

On behalf of WACSSO State Council and staff, thank you to all delegates, guests, performers and presenters who attended the 2012 Conference.

We look forward to an even greater event the 2013 Annual Conference on the 3rd and 4th of August.
