Directions 2015-15 road safety education action plan released

A confronting hospital-based trauma program for teens, an in-school learner driver safety course, a car child-restraint fitting program and a public transport safety initiative are amongst dozens of educational initiatives delivered to WA school students, toddlers and parents each year, thanks to the combined efforts of the WA Road Safety Education Committee (WARSEC), of which WACSSO is a member agency.

On Friday 20th November, Road Safety Commissioner Mr Kim Papalia acknowledged WARSEC as an outstanding example of leadership and collaboration, as he launched Directions 2015-2017, the action plan informing the vital work of WARSEC’s 21 member agencies in coordinating road safety education in early childhood, school and community settings across the State.

For more than twelve years WARSEC has worked to ensure road safety efforts in early childhood, school and community settings are evidence-based and coordinated across WA. The majority of schools in WA have received professional learning, resources and programs provided by the various member agencies of WARSEC, with a focus on best practice road safety education.

Directions 2015-2017 is the third in a suite of three road safety education action plans developed by WARSEC. WACSSO was represented at the highly successful launch event, with an information booth.
