Kylie previously represented the Pilbara West electorate for a full three year term from 2001 to 2004 before moving south with her family where she was elected as the Councillor for the Bunbury Electorate in May 2004.
Kylie has been involved with P&Cs since 1997 when her eldest daughter started school. Over the years she has held a variety of committee positions on both P&Cs and School Councils. Kylie credits her enthusiasm for volunteer involvement to her parents who were always active members of the local community.
In addition to her parental involvement with education, Kylie has previously worked at a Senior High School in a number of roles. This variety of exposure to the education system has given her valuable knowledge and experience to draw from.
Wanting to provide a strong and balanced voice for country schools at State Council, and being able to keep her local area informed of the broader issues were the main driving factors for Kylie when she first nominated to become a Councillor. As well as being an active member of her own P&C, she is keen to provide dedicated support to all affiliates in the Bunbury area. Wherever possible she is keen to attend meetings and training sessions, and is readily available to assist with queries via phone, fax and e-mail.
During her time on State Council she has held the positions of Office Liaison Convener, Executive Committee Member, Vice President and Senior Vice President. Kylie cites one of the most rewarding and exciting aspects of being a WACSSO Councillor as the opportunity to work with, and learn from, the other State Councillors, the President and the staff.
