WACSSO provides representation and services to P&C Associations
WACSSO is the Western Australian Council of State School Organisations Inc and is the state body of the Parents & Citizens' movement in WA.
Parents & Citizens' Associations (P&Cs) are established under the School Education Act 1999 for the purpose of supporting a strong government school system for the benefit of the students.
WACSSO is committed to a public education system available to all young people irrespective of their age, socio-economic status, culture, gender, level of ability or geographic location.
WACSSO provides representation and services to affiliated P&C Associations. Some of the benefits of affiliating with WACSSO are outlined below.
There are currently over 630 P&C Associations affiliated with WACSSO.

- WACSSO represents parents and citizens on decision making committees within the Education Department as well as to State and Federal Members of Parliament.
- WACSSO is your representative voice within the Education Department and in the broader community.
- The State Council of WACSSO is made up of a State Councillor in each electorate who represents affiliated school organisations. Councillors are available, by invitation, to attend P&C meetings to assist and advise where required.
- Affiliates have the power to form a District Council to act as a local forum.
- The decision making body of WACSSO is Annual Conference. Each affiliate is entitled to be represented by two delegates and any number of observers. Conference determines WACSSO policy and is the forum for dealing with education issues of a state or national context.
- Affiliation with the Australian Council of State School Organisations (ACSSO) ensures P&Cs in WA a voice at the national level.
- A staffed office is located within the Education Department that provides an expert advice service to affiliates and individual members.
- A P&C Training Program is provided for affiliates. WACSSO employs a Training and Liaison Officer who conducts training sessions for P&C members.
- Regular information is supplied to affiliated P&Cs on what is happening in Education in Western Australia and Australia.
- Various publications and brochures are produced on relevant issues in government schools as well as methods to assist affiliates in running a P&C.
- A regular newsletter, P&C Voice is produced and distributed to all affiliated Associations.
- WACSSO has a website, which is updated regularly and provides information useful for people involved in P&C Associations.
- WACSSO News is a regular update from the WACSSO office it is produced weekly and emailed to subscribers.
- Public Liability Insurance is included with affiliation. The Public Liability Insurance will cover your P&C for up to $10 million for any one incident where the P&C is found liable.
- Advice on school canteens is available from the office. WACSSO produces a publication called P&C Employment Guide and the accompanying Addendum that assists P&Cs in the management of school canteens.
- Insurance for canteens, uniform shops and workers compensation is provided at competitive rates.
