Vale Betty Green

14 January 2019 WACSSO Business

It is with great sadness that WACSSO advises of the passing of our esteemed Life Member and friend, Mrs Betty Green.

Betty had a remarkable 56 years of involvement with Parents and Citizens Associations. She was a WACSSO State Councillor for 17 years and during that period held the position of Vice President three times.

Betty received Life Membership to WACSSO in 1992 for her outstanding dedication and service to P&Cs and public education. In 2012 Betty was awarded a Certificate of Merit at the WACSSO Conference in recognition of 50 years of commendable service to students at Tuart Hill Primary School – a humble five times the minimum requirement of 10 years!

Many who have attended our Annual Conference over the years will have had the pleasure of meeting Betty, and also hearing her speak. She was a strong advocate for increasing the number of agenda items, and it gave her great pleasure to see the amount of items put forward and to see the energy from delegates during debate.

We were truly blessed to have a woman of her calibre not only as our Life Member, but as a champion for public education in Western Australia.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Betty’s family and friends, and with the school community at Tuart Hill Primary, where in 2017 she celebrated her 90th birthday and they dedicated a room in her honour.

Vale Mrs Green, we will be forever indebted to you.
