Michelle Slater

Executive Officer

As the Executive Officer, I am responsible for day-to-day management and leadership of WACSSO Operations staff.  

I work with the team, President and WACSSO State Council in an executive capacity to ensure the achievement of our constitutional, strategic and business objectives.  

I am also accountable for maintaining our culture of innovation, continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery to Affiliates and other key stakeholders.

Jody Quinn

Affiliate Services

In my role as the Affiliate Services Officer, is I work to promote WACSSO and the services we provide to our affiliate organisations. Being a part of WACSSO since 1988, and currently working 2 days a week, I assist with affiliate enquiries, and support Annual Conference, President, and State Council.

I report and attend meetings of State Council where necessary and attend Annual Conference.

At the 2022 Conference, was awarded WACSSO Life Membership by WACSSO State Council.

Karen Izard

Corporate Support

As the Corporate Support Officer, I am responsible for assisting the President, Executive and Councillors of the organisation as well as providing the highest level of service to affiliated P&C Associations.

I manage the agenda preparation and minute-taking for State Council Meetings, and conduct the organisation’s elections in-line with the requirements of the WACSSO Constitution. It is my responsibility to ensure that all relevant information is provided to the staff and State Council of WACSSO, enabling the organisation to comply with the Associations Incorporation Act. 

I also help affiliates with their obligations to external agencies such as the Department of Commerce (DMIRS) and the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission (ACNC).

I look forward to being able to assist affiliated P&Cs to operate constitutionally so that children in government schools can be supported in reaching their potential.

Susanna Wills-Johnson

Communications and Research

My role as the Marketing and Communications Specialist is to manage the WACSSO communications platforms to ensure content is relevant, useful and up to date for affiliates and other stakeholders. I also liaise with WACSSO State Councillors and provide advice on issues relating to media, research, WACSSO publications and government submissions.

Elaine Korona

Events Coordinator

As Events Coordinator, my primary responsibility is the annual WACSSO Conference. I maintain relationships with key WACSSO supporters and ensure that the event runs smoothly from start to finish. WACSSO Conference brings together affiliates from across Western Australia to participate in networking and development opportunities as well as be an active voice at the AGM and agenda session, which provides the opportunity to influence public education policy.

Throughout the year, I also organise the State Council meetings, which provide the opportunity for staff and Councillors to come together and share ideas, shape the strategy and reflect on WACSSO operations.

Marianne Thoroughgood

Training (Metropolitan)

As the Administrative Assistant, my primary responsibility is to respond to calls and questions from our affiliates. We receive many phone calls and emails each day, from P&C members seeking information, advice and support and I happily provide this to them.

In addition to providing advice to affiliates, I provide administrative support to the WACSSO staff team and State Councillors, ensuring the office runs smoothly.

In my training role, I am responsible for developing and delivering a range of training and resources to affiliates located in the Perth metropolitan area. This includes webinars, which you can access on the website, or participate in, as they go live, on the Online Learning Community.

I also provide support and guidance to vacant electorates, with a focus on recruiting new State Councillors.

I also assist affiliates and State Councillors with enquiries and arising issues.

Debbie Booth

Finance & Training (Regional)

As the Finance Officer, I am responsible for managing the finance requirements of the organisation, including liaison with external contractors, as directed by State Council.

I also provide financial reports and advice as required by State Council and President.

I am also responsible for identifying, evaluating and developing budgets, funding arrangements and grant applications for the organisation as directed by State Council and the President.

In my Training role, I am responsible for developing and delivering a range of training and resources to affiliates located in the regions. This includes webinars, which you can access on the website, or participate in, as they go live, on the Online Learning Community.

I also provide support and guidance to vacant electorates, with a focus on recruiting new State Councillors.

Deb Ryan

Office Coordinator

As the Office Coordinator I undertake tasks that support our Staff, our State Councillors and our affiliates. I assist in managing, triaging and assigning incoming support requests to WACSSO so that they can be attended to in a timely and efficient manner.

I also provide Administrative Support within the WACSSO Office to ensure that our team of Staff and State Councillors are able to undertake their roles effectively.

With experience in Customer Support as well as within a P&C and also school environments, I look forward to being able to assist affiliates with any queries they may have.

Social Media Coordinator

Tessa’s role includes the researching, planning, producing, and scheduling of WACSSO’s social media content. Tessa completed a degree in Professional Writing and Publishing and believes her way with words has immensely helped her in creating interesting content, which she’s been doing for a few years now.
